Lets get Seghious [Serious]~~``

A good place to start learning Kerak English is "varieties and style of English". for those who think that English doesn't have variation~ YOU'RE WRONG~~`` So, lets define these two terms: STANDARD ENGLISH and DIALECTS. Only after doing so we can locate where Kerak English is situated and define it.

  • Standard English: The form of English generally accepted for use in government, the law, business, education and literature.
  • Dialect: Different style of English that has a grammar that is as rich and systematic as standard English, even though it may differ.
  • Dialect: A language variety that has everything going for it, except the government, the schools, the middle class, the law and the armed force-Tom McArthur
This standard English is the English spoken in London and the East Midlands which has been adopted as 'official' variety of English. This dialect and its later development, profoundly influenced by Norman French is what we called as standard English.

Dialects are not corrupted forms of language [that is Kerak English].All English dialects have a long history, going back to the distinct forms of speech of the Germanic and Scandinavian invaders who came from various part of northern Europe to occupy Britain during the Middle Ages.

"A standard language is not linguistically 'better' than other dialects; it is simply the dialect that has been adopted for official purposes..."- quoted from Oxford Practical English Usage.

There are of course other standard form of English. Other than Standard British English, there is also the famously known American English. Other English-speaking countries, too, have their own standard versions of the language(e.g. the developing Indian standard).

NOW THE BIG QUESTION COMES: Where to put Kerak English?
It's easy~ NOWHERE. Now, remember that a dialect is not the corrupted form of language. Therefore, Kerak English is not counted as a dialect nor a variation since it doesn't have these 3 characteristic:

  1. Have a long history.
  2. Has a grammar that is as rich and systematic as standard English.
  3. Not a corrupted form of a language.
By this,I conclude that Kerak English has no value in English language~~`` But of course it's recommended for you to learn kerak English for the sake of conversing with Keraks. This blog will use the standardized Kerak English [it is easier to learn the standardized one~]. Other variation of Kerak English has been developing lately. We will talk more on the variation in other post~ And also, I will Introduce you to the basic standardized Kerak pronounciation~ Untill then, Study Seghiously~~``
